A few years later, with two established businesses and a young son, Sharleen and Dustin embarked upon their next massive project. This time, it was a very large and somewhat neglected 1935 craftsman home with art deco touches. This home had great bones but featured.... knob and tube wiring, leaky windows, uninsulated walls and a dreary and creepy entrance way.
While the home sat empty prior to possession, Sharleen created a vision for the new design. Prior to moving, she walked over to the empty home on a daily basis and peered in windows, reimagining the interior layout and obsessing over paint colours. Once inside, as with their previous homes, Sharleen drew up floor and kitchen plans, specified walls to be ripped out and reimagined the flow of the home. The goal was to beautify the home, but also to make it more functional by opening up the layout, bringing in natural light and enabling the family to get maximum use out of every room.
Following these transformations, more work, paint and design requests from friends and neighbours followed. Then, something different started to happen: local design stores began asking her for her "portfolio" and people she didn't know started to call and ask for her design services. Jobs started to line up.
With a list of requests, she decided to make her design services part of Waterfront West. Having a young son at home, she still did not advertise her services, but continued to get design clients and do consulting through word of mouth. Finally, in 2015 HomeGlow Studio was created as a natural extension of the two businesses.
Today, Sharleen works on projects of all size and scope. She offers mood boards and help with hard finishes, as well as 3D renderings and full design services. From help with sourcing fabrics and furnishing your home to creating a vision for a complete remodel, procuring licenses, project management and more, HomeGlow Studio is now a full-service design company.
Sharleen’s work has also been featured in Canadian Home Trends Magazine and on the March and Mandy Show on City TV.
Dustin and Sharleen work together with their curated network of trade professionals on many projects, but Sharleen also works with other respected trades and contractors in the valley.
Reviews
We are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen and dining room. Sharleen’s detailed planning and design skills pulled it all together to create the fresh open concept we wanted. The newly renovated space is far more functional with increased storage. It is much brighter and is a joy to live in every day!

We are extremely pleased with the reno done by HOMEGLOW Studio.
We had to redo our laundry room as well as the powder room. The work was done according to the estimated time. All the people who worked on the project were very competent, pleasant and were always professional and on time.
I love the laundry room now. It used to be quite ordinary and not practical. It has become a beautiful room with lots of storage and very functional. Unlike other contractors we interviewed for this renovation, Sharleen and Dustin were able to think outside the box and offered a different layout that made the room larger and more efficient. As a result, the laundry room looks amazing now. The reno in the powder room was also beautifully done.
We are extremely happy with the work done and we have no hesitation to recommend Sharleen and Dustin.
